We are committed to promoting wellness for our population. To honor this commitment we encourage all of our patients to follow the preventive care screening guidelines that are recommended by the United States Preventive Care Task Force (USPSTF). Listed below are the most recent guidelines.

As we all know in life, we continue to learn constantly. Because of the research and learning in medicine, guidelines sometimes change. We keep abreast of these changes so we can offer the best research based care to our patients.


 

 

Preventive Care Screening age 18-64

 

 

Tetanus booster every 10 years and pertussis ( whooping cough )  booster at least once in patients who have not had one in 10 years

 

Cholesterol checks every 5 years if normal

 

Pap test start by age 21 every 3 years till age 30 then either pap every 3 years or pap & HPV every 5 years.

 

Pneumonia shot for at risk patients (heart, lung, kidney disease, Diabetes, Cancer, etc)

 

Mammogram every 1-2 years for women over 40

 

Flu shot annually

 

Prostate screen in some at risk men ages 50-70

 

Colorectal Cancer screening - Colonoscopy every 10 years or Cologuard every 3 years or Stool FIT cards yearly.

 

 

 

Preventive Care Screening age 65 and older

Pap test if 3 negative exams before 65 and no abnormal results in the last 10 year period, can elect to discontinue.

 

Pneumonia shot 65 and older

 

Mammogram every 1-2 years for women 65-74

 

Flu shot annually

 

Prostate screen in some at risk men 

 

Colorectal Cancer screening - Colonoscopy every 10 years or Cologuard every 3 years or Stool FIT cards yearly.

 

Bone Density Screen for women every 5 years

 

Fasting Glucose level if at risk for diabetes, or with a diagnosis of high cholesterol or high blood pressure.

 

Abdominal Aortic Aneurism screen ultrasound once for men 65-75 with a history of smoking (current or former)
